Day 109--- "Say Hello to My Little Friend"...

Here we are again at the outset of another blog... As of right now I'm not sure how long it is going to be, but just in case I hope you have packed a lunch... Or a dinner, of course this detail depends on when and where you are reading from... I counted out breakfast, because it is impossible for me to believe that this is one of the first things that you look at everyday... But if it is, I love you too... Today's blog is about a group of people that I admittedly used to belong to. This was at least until I realized that it seemed to annoy everyone around me, but hey I was young, gotta learn sometime... Sadly, some of the "frequent movie quoters" that I know have not yet learned this...

I am not saying that it is never acceptable to throw out a quote from a movie, but there is a time and a place for everything. The people that frustrate me are the ones that will basically try and carry on a conversation with quotes from all the characters that they have stolen lines from over the years... Its even worse when they try and add in the accent or dialect that the original actor had or used... None of my friends can fully put on the Boston accent needed in "The Departed", but this didn't stop them from trying to drop R's like they were born somewhere between Hava-d and Fenwaaaay... The worst is when these people latch on to a movie like Anchorman, or any Will Ferrell movie... Even he is annoying in his movies after a while, so I don't need a bunch of drunk frat guys talking about how "60% of the time it works every time". I don't think that people realize that repeating a joke by someone else and trying to make it your own when EVERYONE has seen the movie, is just not funny... It was cute when I was 7 and I used to go around grabbing my butt cheeks, bending over, and saying "do you mind if I ass you a few questions?", but this clearly grew old by the time I was in high school. None of my teachers found it very funny...

The worst was when the 2000's reprised the popularity of "Scarface", now I will admit, I am a fan of the movie, and I owned a few of the cheap memorabilla item's (hey, I was going through my "I want to be a black man stage of my life")... But come on gentlemen of the world, how many times can you repeat "say hello to my little friend", in one day without even becoming annoyed with your own voice??? Still to this day people will walk around and say that like its gonna be the first time I've ever heard it... When you do this to me, it leads me to believe 2 things, one, you must have seen "Scarface"and two, you are one step closer to becoming the least original person that I know... Very rarely do people use a quote that astounds or surprises anyone, they are the same recycled quotes from every Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, Mike Meyers, or Seth Rogen movie... I am ready to stop seeing their movies when they come out because I am gonna hear every funny quote from them within a week for free. Well, either that or just watch the trailer for the movie...

Although it would get annoying eventually, it would at least be refreshing for a while to hear something from a classic movie... Maybe a little "here's looking at you kid", or "frankly my dear, I don't give a damn", shit even something from the 80's would be classic and seemingly original enough at this point... I'd take anything from "Cadyshack" or "Christmas Vacation" if its all I could get... I can tell you one thing though, the day that I hear someone quote any "Twilight" movie could quite possibly be my last day as a free man... I will give you the Ferrel movies in exchange for promising that these movies are never quoted in my presence...

With that being said I guess its about time to wrap up here... I've decided to do that with a list of quotes, and the type of people that would likely say them.

-"It's so good when it hits your lips"---> Drunks or gays.
-"Ear-muffs"---> People who have not seen a movie since 2005.
-"I could have been a contender"---> People who fail at life.
-"I'll never let go (insert name here), I'll never let go"--->People who fail at romance.
-"Adrian!!!"---> Meatheads who dont know how to use their inside voice.
-"I'm kind of a big deal"---> People who are not a big deal.
-"You're killin me Smalls"---> Anyone and everyone who has seen The Sandlot.
-"I'll make him an offer he cant refuse"---> Wanna be gangsters.
-"Live long and prosper"---> Trekkies.
-"Use the force"---> Loser- I mean Star Wars fans...

I could keep going on but I'll leave you with one of my favorite movie quotes of all time...

The only time I find it acceptable to use quotes from shows if with friends and you use them as an inside joke or a code.

For example, if I use Seinfeld's "That's a shame" around my brother, it's code for "I can tell you're very upset about whatever it is you're talking about, but I don't really care"

Using Seinfeld's quote takes a little bit of sting out of the whole thing.

I'm a Trekkie, but I've never used "live long and prosper." What I do hate is that when peole find out I'm a Trekkie, they want to use the "live long and prosper" phrase on me thinking that I might find it cool. Stop! Please!

"You're killin' me, Smalls" is one that I've used from time to time. You just have to pick your spots. I think from now on I'm going to use really obscure movie lines so no one will even know.

"That was putrid. Capital P. Capital U. Capital trid."
